Maintaining Social Wellbeing in Aotearoa-New Zealand during COVID-19: Seven reasons to be hopeful

Following on from their interview, Chief Science Advisor Richie Poulton and Chief Māori Advisor Atawhai Tibble, our two ‘Chiefs’, wrote a paper diving into seven reasons to be hopeful during the COVID-19 pandemic. The paper explores topics they discussed in the interview in more detail, providing additional evidence for why we can feel hopeful during this trying time.

Interview - Reasons for Hope

At SWA we’ve taken some time during the country’s response to COVID-19 to consider what we could uniquely offer to Aotearoa. Chief Science Advisor Richie Poulton and Chief Māori Advisor Atawhai Tibble, our two ‘Chiefs’, came together and decided to provide a personal take on reasons to be hopeful, drawing on their experience at the Dunedin Study and in the Operational COVID Command Centre respectively. Initially aimed at their workmates as an act of care, we’re sharing it more widely in case it’s useful to you and your whānau.
